Select competition-grade Husky puppies based on bone proportions

1. The quality of competition-level Husky puppies can be judged by the "bone ratio"
After a competition-level Husky puppy is born, generally speaking, when it is 7-8 weeks old, it will look more like what it will look like as an adult. At this time, we can judge how this competition-level Husky puppy is by observing the "dog's bone proportions".
You must know that dogs are just like people. Generally speaking: puppies will develop well after their skeleton is good.
2. Specific observation methods
Next, let’s take a look at how to measure the bone proportions of competition-level Husky puppies. This is the method Karen observed using bone proportions to select competition-level Husky puppies...
"First, after I let the puppies out to play and get tired, and after they are all lying on the ground to sleep, I lay them sideways on the ground, and then start measuring. I find that measuring with my fingers is accurate enough.< /p>
1. Start measuring the "shoulders" of the Husky puppy. I would measure from the shoulder blade to the front of the shoulder (note this is not the actual length of the shoulder blade, but the length used as a reference). Keeping my fingers fixed on the gap, rotate downwards to measure the length from the shoulder to the back of the elbow.
This length must not be shorter than the length of the shoulder, but needs to be equal to or slightly longer than the length of the shoulder. If the lengths of these bones are almost equal, the angle of the bones should be able to provide good forward extension and joint cushioning. A humerus that is too short will cause a flat chest and reduce joint cushioning, which can injure the forelimbs of a competition-grade Husky puppy.
2. Next, let’s measure the front legs of the Husky puppy: the length from elbow to wrist must be equal to the length of the shoulder (preferably longer). If the front legs are shorter than the shoulders, the puppy will most likely have legs that are too short when he grows up.
3. Now we measure the puppy’s hindquarters: I again use the reference length (shoulders) and compare it to the pelvis. This bone is from the hip bone to the very back of the pelvis. If you can't find the hip bone, run your fingers along the dog's thigh; the top bone of the thigh is the front of the pelvis. The pelvis must be equal to the length of the shoulders.
4. Turn to the bottom again and measure the length of the femur. The length from the rearmost part of the pelvis to the knee must also be equal to the reference length of the shoulder.
5. The length from the knee to the hock should be the same as or longer than the reference length; it must be the same length as the front humerus.
6. Next, check the length of the buttocks and the position of the tail on the pelvis. Lift the tail until it is perpendicular to the bone plate and observe the connection point of the tail; it should be in the middle of the three equal parts of the bone plate. ”
Generally speaking, competition-level Husky puppies that meet the above bone proportions will develop better in the future.
