Medicines are three-part poisons. Although medicines can treat diseases, they also have more or less side effects and toxicity. Especially for young pets and during pregnancy, they may be more harmful!

Medicines that young pets should use with caution

1. Oxytetracycline

Try not to use it on puppies. Although it can treat bacterial enteritis, it cannot prevent intestinal inversion (i.e. parvovirus). Long-term use in large doses can directly cause irreversible damage to the teeth, causing the teeth to turn yellow and black, and the enamel is easy to peel off. Moreover, it can combine with calcium ions in the body to indirectly cause symptoms of calcium deficiency. Calcium deficiency may remain despite long-term calcium supplementation.

 2. Gentamicin

The oral absorption rate is very low and it is not absorbed in the intestine, so it is often used to treat intestinal inflammation (bacterial diarrhea) orally. Long-term use of large doses in puppies will cause slow or even no growth. In addition, intramuscular injection is very nephrotoxic and often causes irreversible kidney damage. Such cases are often found during physical examination before training. The creatinine value is more than twice as high. The person usually eats normally and is in good spirits, but during training I can't improve my strength, my urine will be yellow, and I can easily get into trouble.

3. Cold medicine for humans

Cold medicines such as Gankang and Contac often contain ingredients such as ephedrine, which are very sensitive to puppies, causing symptoms such as irritability, barking, excitement, and inability to eat. If used more than twice in an adult dog, hypothermia will occur. Not eating, listless and other symptoms.

4. Norfloxacin

It is often used to treat diarrhea, but it should be used with caution in puppies because it has obvious adverse effects on cartilage calcification. If used for two days in a row, severe cases can cause soft legs, webbed claws and joint swelling.

Ofloxacin in this type of quinolone should also be used with caution, and the intravenous infusion speed must be slow, otherwise accidents such as allergies, urticaria, vomiting, and convulsions may easily occur.
