When dogs show symptoms of hypothermia, they must quickly wrap them in blankets, coats, etc., take them back indoors, use a hot water bottle of about 40℃, and place it on the dog’s chest, abdomen, and armpits. If they start to move, feeding them some honey water will help them recover.

Heatstroke

In the summer in Beijing, every time I see those Chow Chows and Huskies walking at noon, I feel very worried. These thick and long-haired dogs, In that kind of weather, the danger of heat stroke is great. In addition to those who go out for a walk directly, those who are locked in a car on a hot day, those who are chained in the sun and exposed to the sun, and dogs with short noses (short noses affect heat dissipation) are all at risk of heat stroke.

The symptoms of heatstroke are relatively easy to identify. On a hot day, if your dog has rapid and heavy breathing, a red tongue, and sticky saliva, it is basically a sign of heatstroke. To treat a dog suffering from heat stroke, the first step is to cool down. Take the dog to a cool place, wrap the dog with a towel dipped in cold water and change it to a cooler one frequently. If necessary, you can use cold water enema to cool down.

However, the best way to deal with heatstroke is prevention. Give your dog plenty of water to drink on hot days, and avoid hot weather when walking your dog. One thing that needs special attention is that you should never cut your dog's hair to prevent heatstroke. This will increase the dog's risk of heatstroke.

Emergency vomiting

Dogs often learn about things by smelling them first and then biting them with their mouths. Therefore, curious dogs sometimes eat poisonous things by mistake. If a dog eats something poisonous, if you can find a way to make it vomit it out as soon as possible, you can greatly increase the dog's chance of survival.

Ipecac syrup is made from the roots of a plant and is a very effective emetic. It is very effective in inducing vomiting when given to dogs.. If you don’t have it on hand, you can use 3% hydrogen peroxide and infuse it every 10 minutes (note that the concentration must not be exceeded, otherwise it will damage the dog’s digestive tract). If you don't have any of these things, please go straight to the kitchen, scoop out a teaspoon of salt, and place it on the root of the dog's tongue. It also has a good vomiting effect.
