Generally, the normal body temperature of a dog is between 37.5-39.3 degrees. If the dog’s body temperature exceeds 39.5 degrees, then It can be determined that the dog has a high fever. Note that the anal temperature should be measured, and the inner thigh temperature is not accurate.

Causes of fever in dogs

1. Viral infections caused by colds, accompanied by coughs, runny noses, etc.;
2. Pneumonia, enteritis, skin infections and other serious internal infections;

4. Caused by calcium deficiency in nursing bitches after delivery, accompanied by convulsions

Methods to treat dog fever

1. First rule out the possibility of other diseases and take the dog to the hospital for a routine blood test. If there is no problem, just give a subcutaneous injection to reduce fever. Take one pill each of Bupleurum + Antongding, repeat it every 6 hours, and the dog's fever will subside soon.
2. For ordinary fever, Xiaobupleurum granules can be taken orally, but human cold medicine cannot be taken. Paracetamol should be taken orally, and metamizole can be taken orally.
3. If the dog’s fever is caused by a cold, oral antiviral granules are required.

Physical therapy for dog fever:

1. Guide the dog to drink more water to promote urination and lower body temperature. If the dog is unwilling to drink, you can use a syringe to deliver the dose, and be careful to avoid choking.
2. You can use 75% alcohol or warm water to wipe the foot pads and belly. You can also use ice packs or towels soaked in cold water to apply cold compresses. Generally apply it on the neck, groin, armpits, etc. (do not apply it on the head), change it every 5 minutes, and repeat it until the temperature drops.
3. Pay more attention to food hygiene and do not feed raw or cold food; dog food must be light, with less oil and less salt.
