What are the procedures for air consignment of pet dogs? Three documents are required: pet dog health and immunity certificate, pet dog quarantine certificate, and transport equipment sterilization certificate. The immunity certificate is obtained at the local dog hospital, and the quarantine certificate and disinfection certificate are obtained at the local pet dog hospital. The quarantine station should be used; in addition, before purchasing a ticket, it is best to apply to the airline for pet dog aerobic space at least 3 days in advance.

1. Quarantine documents

Three documents are required: pet dog health and immunity certificate, pet dog quarantine certificate, and transport equipment sterilization certificate

Immunization certificates are obtained at the local pet dog hospital, and quarantine certificates and disinfection certificates are obtained at the local pet dog quarantine station. Pet dog quarantine requirements: Dogs that need to be checked must be vaccinated (a dog health and immunity certificate is issued) one month later, and the latter two certificates can be issued only after there are no adverse reactions during quarantine.

Airlines will require passengers to provide pet dog quarantine certificates (valid health certificates and vaccination certificates) issued by health and quarantine departments at or above the county level. It should be noted that the quarantine certificate is valid for up to 7 days, so the date of departure must be within the validity period of the pet dog quarantine certificate.

2. Apply for accommodation

Before purchasing a ticket, passengers need to confirm whether the flight they are taking allows dogs, that is, whether there is a cargo hold for live pet dogs. Airlines have restrictions on the number of dogs and cats that can be checked in. Passengers must book an aerobic cabin for their dogs and it is best to apply to the airline at least 3 days in advance.

If the airline adjusts the aircraft to a model that cannot carry small pets before the flight takes off, the passenger will have to give up the check-in or change to another flight. It should be noted that if there are no connecting flights during the journey, the possibility of the pet dog being sent to a different place by mistake will be much smaller.

3. Buy a flight case

A sturdy and regular flight box is a guarantee that your pet dog will feel comfortable and safe on the plane. It can generally be purchased at a pet dog shop for tens to hundreds of dollars. The flight box must meet the following requirements: 1. It can prevent pet dogs from damaging, escaping and extending out of the container; 2. Ensure air circulation; 3. It can prevent the leakage of feces.

Therefore, a good flight box has a steel structure, and the chassis and surroundings should be surrounded by iron sheets, leaving only a ventilation opening at the top, and the opening can be solidified with lead wire. At the same time, pads should be tied under the chassis to prevent pet dogs from leaking and contaminating other people's goods. Passengers can tie fasteners to the top of the flight box to prevent other items from squeezing the container.

IV. Preparation before boarding

Before traveling long distances, your pet dog needs to have all vaccinations to be safe. If the trip is long, consult your veterinarian to see if your dog needs to be sedated. In the cold winter, your pet dog can be put on warm clothes to avoid freezing.

Pet dogs should fast and urinate at least 3 hours before boarding. When flying, pet dogs are prone to thirst, so passengers need to secure a large enough drinking fountain in the flight case (and some food can also be placed there). If the pet dog does not know how to use it, it is best to train it in advance.

On the day of flight, passengers need to arrive at the airport 2 hours in advance to go through the procedures. Please consult the service staff for the specific location. Try not to let pet dogs pass through the X-ray machine, and allow security personnel to use detectors designed for humans. In addition, if your flight is delayed, you can ask the cargo office to put your dog in the cargo hold later.

5. Airport pick-up

If the pet dog uses the baggage check channel, then the pet dog will arrive when the person arrives; if the pet dog uses the cargo transportation channel, that is, the owner and the pet dog are not on the same plane, the passenger needs to "pick up" as early as possible. Pet dogs spend lonely and restless hours in the "little dark room", so owners must check their status and comfort them when receiving their pets.
