The first menstruation of a Corgi mainly occurs around 6-8 months of age, indicating that the body is sexually mature at this time, also called estrus. It is worth noting that Corgis in heat for the first time cannot be bred. Because although the Corgi is sexually mature at this time, its physical development is not yet complete, and its physical condition cannot withstand the pressure caused by pregnancy.
The second menstrual period for Corgis is usually when they are 14 or 15 months old. In other words, after Corgis grow up, they will go into estrus regularly twice a year, mainly in spring and autumn, that is, around March-May and September-November.
Things to note when corgis are menstruating:
1. It is best not to bathe the Corgi during menstruation, especially when bleeding, and do not take the Corgi outside to bathe. At that time, the Corgi is easily infected with some physiological diseases, so go out When I take a shower, I'm not as clean as I can at home.
2. Don’t even take your corgi outside during menstruation, because female dogs in heat are very attractive to male dogs. Sometimes they will bring stray male dogs home, or some male dogs will fight for them. And fight. So the best way is to try not to take a female dog out in heat. Especially the two weeks after seeing red.
3. If you wear menstrual pants for your Corgi, be sure to change them at least 2-3 pairs a day.
