Generally speaking, normal pug dogs go into estrus twice a year, usually from March to May in spring and September to November in autumn. The main symptoms of a female dog in heat are as follows:
1. Pug dogs are in early estrus. The time is about 7-10 days. Generally speaking, this is the preparatory stage for estrus, when the reproductive system begins to prepare for ovulation. The eggs are close to maturity, the epithelium of the reproductive tract begins to proliferate, and the female dog is also more irritable, with increased secretions, vulva congestion, swollen vulva, flushing, wetness, and mucus mixed with blood. At this time, male dogs will often smell the scent, but female dogs are not allowed to mate at this time.
2. Pug dogs are in estrus. Approximately 6-14 days is the period when the signs of estrus are most obvious and mating is accepted. The vulva continues to swell and soften, the mucus flowing out becomes lighter in color, and the bleeding decreases or stops. At this time, the female dog will take the initiative to approach the male dog. When the male dog climbs over, she will take the initiative to step down on her waist, face her buttocks towards the male dog, and tilt her tail to one side to allow mating. 2-3 days after estrus, the female dog begins to ovulate, which is the best time for mating.
3. Pug dogs are in late estrus. The female dog's temperament becomes quieter, the swelling of the vulva subsides, and gradually returns to normal, and the male dog is not allowed to approach. It usually lasts for two months and then enters the anestrus period. If you are pregnant, the period after estrus is the pregnancy period.
4. Pug dogs are in anestrus. The reproductive organs enter a state of inactivity. It usually lasts about 3 months, and then enters the next proestrus.
