The first estrus of a female pug is about 6-10 months after birth. The growth status, body structure and nutritional intake of each dog are different, which will have a certain impact on the time of the first estrus. Some dogs go into heat earlier, and some dogs don’t go into heat until they are 10 months old. This is a normal phenomenon. Most owners can just supplement their nutrition for slow-growing Pug dogs.
After the pug reaches adulthood, under normal circumstances, it will go into estrus twice a year, usually once in spring from March to May, and again from September to November in autumn. Estrus lasts approximately 6-14 days. The main symptoms of estrus are that the dog will become excited and restless, bark constantly, urinate frequently, have red mucus flowing out of the vulva, like to be close to male dogs, etc.
During estrus, if you do not plan to breed your dog, it is best to wear menstrual pants for it to prevent pregnancy and bacterial invasion. And when the pug is in estrus, the owner should pay attention to supplementing it with nutrients. You can add complementary foods to the dog, such as chicken breast, fish, cabbage, carrots and other foods, cook them and chop them into pieces, and add them to the dog's food.
