A newborn Schnauzer has very little hair, but from birth to three months, the lanugo hair will grow rapidly. At three months of age, Schnauzers will begin to shed their lanugo, and this stage usually lasts until six months. However, some Schnauzers develop relatively slowly, and it is normal for them to still molt at eight months of age.
A healthy adult Schnauzer will molt twice a year, mostly in spring and autumn, that is, from March to May and September to November. This is a seasonal molt, which won’t last as long as the lanugo molt, but will last about a month or two. At this stage, the Schnauzer should be combed once a day in the morning and evening to remove the shed hair on the dog's body in time. Moreover, grooming can promote blood circulation in the dog's skin and promote healthy hair growth.
In addition to regular grooming, you should also pay attention to supplementing calcium, protein and vitamins in the diet. The food should be light and easy to digest, which is more beneficial to the hair growth of the Schnauzer.
