What is the method for cleaning the German Shepherd’s ears? First prepare the tools for cleaning the German Shepherd’s ears. Alcohol must not be used in the German Shepherd’s inner ear; use alcohol cotton balls to disinfect the German Shepherd’s external auditory canal, and then apply ear cleaning oil Drop it into the German Shepherd ear canal, knead it gently for a while, and then slowly pull out the dirt; novice owners who find German Shepherd ear infection and inflammation should be sent to the hospital immediately
Prepare the tools you need to clean your German Shepherd’s ears in advance. For example, towels, cotton swabs, alcohol cotton balls, ear cleaning oil, etc. Never use alcohol on the inner ears of German Shepherd dogs, because alcohol is a breeding ground for mites, which can cause great invisible harm to German Shepherd dogs.
Then use alcohol cotton balls to disinfect the external auditory canal of the German Shepherd dog, and use 3% sodium bicarbonate ear drops or 2% boric acid water to drop into the dog's ear canal. Be sure to pinch the dog's ears in time, and then gently knead them a few times. After the dog's earwax softens, use small tweezers or a clean cotton swab to slowly pull out the dirt. (Be careful, don’t dig too deep, or injure the German Shepherd’s ears.)
If your German Shepherd has been infected with ear inflammation, you should pay attention to the choice of ear drops. You can use 4% boric acid glycerin ear drops and 2.5% chloramphenicol glycerin ear drops instead of ordinary ear drops for German Shepherd dogs 3 times a day to help eliminate inflammation.
PS: If you are a new German Shepherd owner, you do not have enough theoretical knowledge or any practice on how to care for and clean its ears. So, it’s better to take your German Shepherd to a pet grooming shop and ask a beautician to clean its ears.
