How to clean Schnauzer's ears? Soak a sponge ball in a solution of vinegar and warm water in a 1:1 ratio, squeeze out the excess water, and then gently wipe the Schnauzer's outer ears. Loosely wrap a circle of gauze around your index finger, moisten the gauze with ear cleaner and gently wipe the Schnauzer's inner and outer ears.

Method 1: Vinegar solution

Pour vinegar and warm water into a bowl in a ratio of 1:1. You don’t need much, just a few spoonfuls per Schnauzer ear (15 grams per spoonful) is enough. However, when cleaning Schnauzer’s ears, be sure to ensure that the temperature of the vinegar solution is appropriate so as not to frighten Xiaoxue while cleaning his ears.

Take a sponge ball and dip it into the solution. Then squeeze out the excess water to ensure that the sponge ball is moist but not dripping. For puppies like the Schnauzer, you may need to use half of the sponge ball to clean the Schnauzer's ears.

Gently wipe the Schnauzer's outer ears. Clean away any dirt and debris you can see (you may need multiple sponge balls). For Schnauzers, it may be better to use a cotton swab instead of a sponge ball. Note that you must be very careful when cleaning Schnauzer's ears, and do not go too deep into Xiaoxue's ears to avoid damaging Schnauzer's hearing.

Don’t worry about hurting your Schnauzer. As long as you're gentle and only wipe the front of the ear canal, you should be fine.

Method 2: Ear Cleanser

Loosely wrap a circle of gauze around your index finger. This is gentler than using cotton swabs to clean your Schnauzer's ears, which can be a little uncomfortable for your Schnauzer. Remember to hold the gauze in place with your thumb and middle finger.

Moisten the gauze with ear cleaner. Your veterinarian can tell you which cleaner is best. Be careful not to let the gauze soaked when cleaning Schnauzer's ears. If you accidentally pour too much, squeeze some out before continuing. Extra detergent is not harmful to your Schnauzer.

Gently wipe the Schnauzer’s inner and outer ears. If you're not very experienced, you may need to use a few more pieces of gauze. Don't be afraid to wipe your Schnauzer's inner ears, just be gentle.

It is best to ensure that your Schnauzer’s ears are cleaned once a week. Dirt can quickly build up and lead to ear infections, especially in dogs with floppy ears.

Note: When cleaning Schnauzer’s ears, never insert cotton swabs into Schnauzer’s ear canal! This will cause permanent hearing damage to Xiaoxue.
