Determining the breed of dog

After deciding to buy a dog, the next question is to decide what breed of dog to keep. The first thing you should consider is the dog's personality. The breed's personality should be similar to yours so that you can get along well; secondly, the composition of your family members. If you have young children or older people at home, you should consider breeds with stable nerves, gentle temperaments, and non-harmful breeds, such as "golden retrievers" instead of buying "Dobermans." Rottweiler, Tibetan Mastiff and other stubborn and neurotic dogs; third, look at the purpose. Are you keeping a dog as a treat, as a housekeeper, or both?

How to choose a healthy dog

1. Is the environment spacious, bright and clean?

The environment a dog comes from is very important. The dog farm is clean and bright, with kennels and activity areas. Each dog is taken out of the kennel regularly every day to exercise and defecate. Someone will clean it up immediately after defecation, so that the dog will not be willing to dirty his sleep and life. In the new owner's home, it is easy to teach him to defecate outdoors or in a fixed place.

If it is a pet shop, most dogs are kept in cages. Likewise, you need to see if the dog cage is kept clean regularly and if someone cleans it immediately after the dog urinates and defecates. Is the dog allowed to be led outdoors and exposed to light?

2. What food do dogs eat?

A formal, scientifically managed dog farm must feed dogs special dog food. Dog food should be fed regularly and quantitatively dry, and water should be placed separately, which is clean and does not waste. The dog food used is specially formulated and produced according to the dog's growth and exercise needs. It has comprehensive nutrients and is beneficial to digestion, so that the dog can grow healthy. Dogs that have grown up eating dog food will be powerless against poisoners as long as they are trained to resist food.

3. What is the dog’s health and neurological condition?

If the dog you see has knotted hair, the replaced hair hangs on the body without being combed, and there is feces or other dirt on the hair, then they must not have someone combing the dog's hair.

Also, check to see if there are any sick dogs. As long as a dog is sick, especially bacterial or viral infectious diseases and skin diseases, and the dogs living with him are likely to be infected, then you should not buy a dog from this dog farm or pet store.

When selecting a dog, check whether the dog has eye mucus and nasal mucus, whether the ears are clean, and whether the nose is moist. As long as you find something abnormal, you should pay special attention and carefully consider whether you should buy it.

In addition, if the led dog is afraid when seeing strangers, if it hesitates, its eyes flicker, and its tail is clamped, such a dog must lack environmental exercise and have problems adapting to the new living environment.

 4. Do they use vaccines and what vaccines do they use?

NoteVaccination is the only way to prevent dogs from contracting viral infections. Once a dog without vaccination is infected with the virus, the mortality rate is close to 100%. Even if it survives, it will have lifelong sequelae. Puppies usually receive the first vaccination at six weeks, repeated every three to four weeks, three times in total, and once a year thereafter. The rabies vaccine must be injected at least three months ago, once, and in the future it will be once a year. Therefore, a dog may not have completed puppy vaccinations until at least 14 weeks of age. A dog for sale must have a complete vaccination record appropriate to his age. The reason I emphasize "approximately his age" is that many dogs that come to our veterinary hospital for treatment are only a little over a month old, but their owners told us that the person selling the dog told them that "all the vaccines have been given." This is obviously impossible.

If a vaccine is used, then you have to see what kind of vaccine they use and whether it is an effective vaccine? Due to technical reasons, the quality of domestically produced vaccines is very unstable and is not the most effective method. There are imported vaccines produced in the Netherlands and the United States. Because it is imported, insulation measures during transportation are crucial. Vaccines are generally stored at 2-7°C. Vaccines will become ineffective after 120 minutes beyond this temperature. A vaccine consists of freeze-dried vaccine and liquid vaccine. Turn over the bottom of the bottle containing the freeze-dried vaccine. If you see cracked dry powder, then the bottle of vaccine must have been frozen again after being melted at high temperatures, and is actually ineffective.

In addition, look at the label of the vaccine bottle to see if it can be peeled off and stuck on the record card. The label should have the complete brand, vaccine name, expiry date and other information. Once the label is removed, the used vaccine bottle cannot be reused, preventing the possibility of being filled with counterfeit medicine.

5. Talk to the breeder or dog seller

When purchasing a dog, don’t forget to pay attention to the conversation and content of the breeder and seller. During the conversation, you need to listen to whether their introduction is detailed and objective; whether they patiently answer your questions and whether they have sufficient professional knowledge; in addition to recommending you to buy a dog, whether they have guiding suggestions and informative introductions; find out, What is their after-sales service, is there technical guidance, and how is the quality of the dogs guaranteed? Speaking of guarantees, the common practice in foreign dog farms is to number the dogs' ears. The ear number is a lifelong mark of the dog, and its function is the same as that of the watch. So if you see that the dogs for sale at this dog farm all have ear numbers, you don’t have to worry about them going out and not claiming the credit. At the same time, if you buy a dog with ear numbers, if it is lost or stolen and found, you can easily prove the dog's identity and your ownership. If the staff of this dog farm make you feel honest, professional, and trustworthy, you can buy their dogs with confidence, because this also reflects the level of this dog farm in one aspect.
