After preparing to take your pet abroad, the first thing you need to start is the rabies vaccine. At present, our country’s requirements for pets traveling abroad are that they must go to the local designated pet rabies vaccination hospital to get the rabies vaccine before it is recognized, and they must obtain the "Animal Immunization Certificate" issued by the hospital before they can go through the subsequent pet export health examination procedures. As for microchips, they are not yet widely available in many cities, but they must be implanted when traveling to the EU. Therefore, you can purchase them from a pet immigrant, and then find a veterinarian to implant them yourself.
2. Collect serum from pets.
One month after the rabies treatment, you need to take your pet to the pet hospital to collect serum. It should be noted that serum is not blood. Serum is obtained by separation of blood. Generally speaking, the laboratory requires 1-2ML of serum for testing. However, it is often necessary to pump 5-10ML to separate 1-2ML of serum. It should be noted that it is not correct to check the information before that the samples for serum testing must be refrigerated and stored. To be precise, blood must be refrigerated and stored because its shelf life is very short. If the serum is separated, it can be stored at room temperature. It doesn't matter as long as it's not too long to save. VET said that under normal circumstances, a week is no problem.
3. Health examination before departure.
After the pet serum test result is qualified, the pet can be taken out of the country 3 months after the serum is collected. Therefore we need to book flights for pets before then. According to the flight time, take your pet to the pet hospital designated by the local Entry-Exit Quarantine Bureau 1 week in advance for an outbound health examination. If you pass the physical examination, you can get a health certificate in 1-2 days.
4. Check-in procedures before departure.
Take your pet to the airport terminal 3-4 hours in advance on the day of departure to check in for your pet. Be sure to remember to bring all the pet’s certification materials, including injection records (animal immunity certificate), official health certificate (animal health certificate) Certificate) and customs clearance form, in addition to serum test report, etc.
Other notes:
On the day of flight, try to eat only the foods you usually eat most and don’t eat too much. You should stop eating 4-6 hours before taking the flight.
Pets must be nervous about getting on a plane. Proper exercise on the day can help calm their anxious mood. It also gives it time to go to the toilet and reduces the chance of needing to relieve itself in the cage. Only after boarding the plane can your pet rest peacefully.
Go to the airport exit inspection room in advance to verify your pet’s identity and quarantine certificate to avoid delaying your flight. It also gives your pet time to calm down.
