What should I do if my Rottweiler dog catches a cold? There are many reasons why dogs catch a cold. Generally, they catch a cold because they catch a cold. Parents should pay attention to keeping their dogs warm when the weather gets cold at home.

There are two main causes of colds in Rottweilers: viral colds caused by viruses, and general colds caused by sudden rises and falls in temperature and lack of insulation measures. Most cases of colds in Rottweilers are caused by improper feeding and management, sudden changes in weather, and cold exposure. Sick dogs usually become suddenly lethargic and afraid of cold. At the beginning of the disease, the dog had clear watery nasal fluid, which later changed to yellow and viscous. The nose was dry and sweatless, and the body temperature was around 40°C. At the same time, the appetite was reduced. Symptoms of bronchopneumonia appear when secondary tracheitis or pneumonia occurs.

The treatment principles for Rottweiler dog colds are mainly antipyretic, analgesic, and dispelling wind and cold. Usually, 0.5 to 1 gram of paracetamol is taken orally, and 2 to 4 ml of paracetamol is injected intramuscularly, twice a day. To prevent secondary infection, antibiotics or sulfa drugs can be used. When controlling body temperature, 250 ml of 5% glucose saline, 1 ml of dexamethasone, and 2 to 4 ml of gentamicin (80,000 units each) can be mixed intravenously. Severe colds require treatment at a pet hospital. In addition, the sick dog must be kept quiet and given plenty of water. Pay attention to keeping warm in winter to prevent repeated colds, which may aggravate the condition.
