How to train a Boykin Spaniel to fetch things? How to train a Boykin Spaniel to fetch things?

How to train a Boykin retriever to pick up things? When training a dog, we will train it to simply lie down, stand or pick up things, but these are not achieved overnight and we, as parents, need to persist in training our dogs.
As long as you have patience, this is not difficult. Mine has been trained and I can tell you the method.
The first step is to let the dog get used to having something in its mouth all the time. In addition to letting it adapt to the size of the object, the weight of the object must also be controlled within the range that its mouth can weigh its hand. The dog owner can put a fixed object in its mouth and prevent it from spitting it out. Slowly extend the time the reward is held in your mouth until it is not forced to hold it and it will not spit it out.
In the second step, the dog owner should set a password at this time, such as "dumbbell", to let the dog know what it is holding. In addition, the dog must be trained to obey commands. When it is tired of biting something or is attracted by other things, it will want to spit it out. At this time, you should say "no" or "NO". When the dog grabs something, it is not allowed to spit it out without the owner's command.
Step 3: When your dog stops spitting out things at will, you can let him follow you around with things in his mouth. Before doing this, it is necessary to determine the effectiveness of the dog’s obedience training. Because in addition to not letting go of the items in your mouth, you also need to make sure that it is willing to follow you all the time and will not run away on its own.
Step 4: Since your dog is very accustomed to walking around with things in his mouth, you can let him identify the items you want him to pick up. Let it first establish the association between the item and the name. For example, when you say "cell phone," it knows where to look for your phone. Place the object on the ground and wait until the dog is willing to pick it up. This training step is not complete.
Step 5: After the dog understands the correlation between the object and its name, it will pick up the object. But this is not enough, because the end result is to encourage it to "actively search" for the object. When the object is no longer in front of it and you give a command, it will take the initiative to ask around until it finds the object.
