How to train Lakeland Terriers not to bark? Although barking is the nature of Lakeland Terriers, such nagging Lakeland Terriers will really cause a lot of distress to Lakeland Terrier parents. So how can we train them not to do this? What about the barking?

1. Chew bones to keep the Lakeside Terrier quiet

If there is something to gag the Lakeland Terrier’s mouth, then they won’t have time to bark. Moreover, the harder things are to chew, the more challenging it is for the Lakeland Terrier. So, when the Lakeland Terrier keeps barking, throw them their favorite bone first and let them kill the boring time.

2. Play with toys to keep the Lakeside Terrier quiet

Parents of Lakeside Terriers can first rub the toys that Lakeside Terriers love with their hands, in order to keep their own scent on the toys. When the Lakeland Terrier parents are out of sight, the Lakeland Terrier will spend time looking for the owner's scent on the toys and forget about barking. At the same time, the fun the toy brought to it also diverted its attention and stopped barking.

3. Chat to keep the Lakeside Terrier quiet

Sometimes dogs keep barking just to convey some kind of message to Lakeland Terrier parents, such as loneliness, lack of security, etc. If the Lakeside Terrier's parents respond appropriately and show appreciation, the Lakeside Terrier will naturally shut up.

4. Small rewards keep the Lakeside Terrier quiet

If the Lakeside Terrier keeps barking, the Lakeside Terrier parent should immediately reprimand it in a firm tone: "Quiet." When the Lakeside Terrier stops barking, the Lakeside Terrier parents may wish to give some snacks or praise to show encouragement. Doing this will let the Lakeland Terrier know that being obedient and staying quiet will please the Lakeland Terrier's parents.

Note:

1. When the Lakeside Terrier cooperates with your training, don’t forget to praise it and give appropriate rewards.

2. When the Lakeside Terrier does not cooperate, you can use appropriate punishment to make it remember that it is wrong to do so.
