Domestic dogs that do not come into contact with wild dogs outside generally do not carry rabies virus. If they are not scratched or bitten by dogs, they do not need to be vaccinated. Just vaccinate the dog. However, if you are bitten by a dog, you must get a rabies vaccine in time. It is recommended to get the rabies vaccine within 24 hours of being bitten by a dog.

Precautions for owners bitten by dogs:

1. After being bitten by a dog, the wound should be rinsed with 20% soapy water and tap water immediately for 20 seconds. For more than 1 minute, squeeze out the blood from the wound and surrounding tissues.

2. If the bite is severe and you cannot handle it yourself, you need to go to the hospital for cleaning and disinfection, and infiltrate and inject rabies immune globulin around the wound.

3. Then go to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or a community hospital to receive the rabies vaccine. Do not drink alcohol or strong tea during the vaccination period.

4. In your diet, you can eat more milk, eggs and other foods, and avoid spicy and irritating foods.

5. Pay attention to skin care at the vaccination site and keep it dry and clean to avoid infection.
