Treatment methods for dog anal adenitis:

1. If the dog’s anal glands are inflamed, first use iodophor to disinfect them, and then use a napkin to hold the dog’s anus. Try squeezing, and if there is thick discharge, continue squeezing. After squeezing, clean the anus with warm salt water. After treatment, you can apply erythromycin ointment and anti-inflammatory ointment.

2. If the entire anus and its surroundings are severely bulged and feel very hard, do not squeeze. Let the doctor handle it, because it may be necessary to extract the pus and inject medicine into it. If it is only red and swollen, as long as the dirt in the gland is cleaned out in time, there will usually be no problem.

3. If there is already a problem of suppuration and ulceration, first squeeze out the foreign matter in the anal glands, and then clean the wound with hydrogen peroxide. Taking preventive measures at ordinary times can greatly reduce the number of anal glands in dogs. To prevent inflammation, squeezing out the secretions from the anal glands when bathing your dog is a good way to prevent it.

Symptoms of anal adenitis in dogs:

The anal glands are sac-like glands located on both sides of the dog’s anus. They secrete light brown secretions that usually follow the dog’s anus. Dogs poop out of their bodies. If the anal glands are inflamed, the anal glands will be blocked, resulting in secretions that cannot be discharged in time and accumulate around the anal glands, compressing the anal glands and causing pain. Dogs with inflamed anal glands will lick vigorously around the anus. The reason why dogs suffer from anal adenitis is usually related to frequent squatting and rubbing the anus after defecation. Bacteria and viruses can easily take the opportunity to enter and cause anal adenitis.
