What to do if Teddy catches a cold

Treatment methods for Teddy cold:
1. The main treatment principles are antipyretic, anti-inflammatory and anti-infection.
2. Antipyretic and anti-inflammatory: The normal body temperature of dogs does not exceed 39°C. When the body temperature of a cold dog exceeds 40°C and chills occur, antipyretic and analgesic drugs can be used. The more commonly used one is Diazepam, which is injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly with 0.5 to 2 ml depending on the size of the individual. Bupleurum injection can be used as traditional Chinese medicine, which has good curative effect. For sick dogs whose body temperature does not rise much, it is not necessary to inject antipyretic drugs. Oral human cold medicine can be used, and the dose is 1/4 to 1/2 of an adult. For sick dogs with excessive nasal discharge, falling head and sneezing, about 0.5 ml (5 mg) of chlorpheniramine can be injected subcutaneously. For dogs with rough breath sounds, vesicular sounds, or severe coughing, 2 to 5 mg of dexamethasone can be injected intramuscularly.
3. To fight concurrent infections, penicillin is the first choice. 400,000 to 800,000 units are injected intramuscularly twice a day. Other antibacterial drugs such as kanamycin, cephalosporin, ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, etc. can also be used. Severe cases should be treated with infusion. Penicillin, dexamethasone, and vitamin C can be added to 10% glucose solution for intravenous infusion.
