How to style your pet Shih Tzu?

Alias of Shih Tzu: Lion Dog Chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum). It is native to China and originated in the 17th century. Originating from Tibet, they were kept as guard dogs in lamasery temples. The lamaist god of culture, Mandrup Hughli, often carries a small dog that can transform into a lion. The Tibetan Lhasa Apso, which resembles a lion in appearance, is thought to be closely related to the Lion Dog. For many families, it is not an unfamiliar pet dog. Because of its smooth hair, it is also cute. The Shih Tzu's hair is long and noble, so it often needs to be cared for and groomed. So how should you care for it? What about trim styling?
The appearance of the standard Shih Tzu dog should be that the whole body is covered with long hair, the head cover is round, must be wide, the ears are large, and the head is covered with long and beautiful hair. The base of the ears is slightly lower than the top of the head, and the distance between the ears is wider. The body is round and long, with a short back but kept level. The neck is gently sloping, the head is elevated, and the limbs are short and covered with hair. The tail is high and mostly feathery. Curly upward toward the back, the long hair is dense and cannot be curled, and the undercoat is woolly.
Based on these characteristics, when grooming a Shih Tzu, the coat should be separated from the midline of the back to both sides, and an appropriate amount of oil should be applied 3 cm to the left and right of the back line to prevent the coat from breaking. In order to prevent the hair on the abdomen from getting tangled and to facilitate walking, the hair under the abdomen should be cut off about 1 cm with scissors. In order to make the raised tail look better, cut off 0.5 cm of fur at the base of the tail. Excess hair around the feet should be trimmed as much as possible. Let the dog stand on the trimming table and trim the lower part of the body hair (the hem) to a length slightly longer than the body height (that is, the length of the hair is slightly longer than the body height). However, if it is too long, it will affect its movement and cannot give full play to its lively characteristics. .
The Shih Tzu's hair is slightly brittle and easy to break and fall off. The hair on the face is also long, which can easily cover the eyes and affect vision. Therefore, these long hairs should be ligated to prevent breakage and shedding, which can also increase the appearance.
The method of ligation is:
First, use a comb to separate the long hair on the bridge of the nose to both sides along the midline, and then divide the hair from the nose to the corners of the eyes into upper and lower parts. From the corners of the eyes to the back of the head, separate the hair up and down in a semicircle, and comb the hair. The patient uses his left hand to hold the long hair from the eyes to the top of the head, and comb it backwards with a fine-mesh comb to make the hair fluffy, tighten the hair on the top of the head, tie a rubber band, and then tie a small bow. You can also comb the long hair on the head into two knots on the left and right sides or braid it into two braids.
Notes
1. When correcting limbs, to correct long limbs and short limbs, you need to cut the hair on the chest and buttocks short, lift the abdominal line, and move the waistline forward.
2. When correcting the limbs, when correcting short limbs and long limbs, you need to keep the hair on the chest and buttocks longer, move the abdominal line downwards, and move the waistline backward.
The comparison between the corrected hindlimb and the normal hindlimb is as shown in the figure, the shape of the forelimb after pruning is as shown in the figure.
Preparation
Electric scissors, 10# blade, straight scissors, dental scissors, small straight scissors, grooming comb, Shih Tzu.
How to operate
1. Task preparation
(1) Use a 10# blade electric clipper to shave the soles of your feet cleanly.
(2) Use a 10# blade electric scissor to shave the underbelly hair cleanly. Shave the male dog into an inverted "V" shape and the female dog into an inverted "U" shape.
(3) Use a 10# electric scissor to shave the hair around the anus into a "V" shape, with the width no longer than the base of the tail.
Operation steps
(1) Trim the back and divide it into 7 layers. The first layer starts from the occipital bone along the spine to the root of the tail, the 2nd and 5th layers to both sides of the spine, the 3rd and 6th layers to the middle part of the body; the 4th and 7th layers Close to the imaginary line. Use a #4 blade electric clipper to shave along the direction of hair growth, move the clipper laterally, and shave into an arc-shaped imaginary line from the occipital bone to the base of the tail, and from the sternum to the ischium. The area from jaw to chest is also within the scope of shaving (see picture).
(2) Trim the buttocks. Use straight scissors to trim the buttocks into a very small arc.
(3) When trimming the hind limbs, the dog should stand in a normal position at the edge of the table for easy trimming. On the back side, use the center of the hock angle of the hind limb as an imaginary point, and use straight shears to trim the perfect hock angle in three steps.
Step 1: Start from the sit bones, diagonally toward the imaginary point.
Step 2: From the bottom of the hock joint to the imaginary point.
Step 3: Trim the imaginary point connection in an arc shape. Transverse shears are allowed, that is, use straight shears to trim the outside of the hind limbs laterally and parallelly. Trim the sides of the hind limbs in a straight line from the waistline to the toes. Use a comb to lift the coat on the inner side of the hind legs outwards, and then use straight scissors to cut across the hair in a straight line from top to bottom (see picture).
After trimming the four sides, trim the hind limbs into a cylindrical shape (see picture).
(4) Forelimb trimming, use straight shears to trim the Shih Tzu’s forelimbs into a cylindrical shape (see picture)
(5) Trim the feet by turning the feet back, blocking them in front of the tiger's mouth with your hands, and using straight shears to cut off the excess fur around them into a shape where the hair is short near the meat pads and long hair away from the meat pads. No toes should be exposed.
(6) Use straight scissors to trim the Shih Tzu’s body into a cylindrical shape.
(7) Use straight shears to trim the chest into an arc shape.
(8) Trim the tail
Twist the loose tail into a bundle and use your teeth toCut off the protruding hair at the tip of the tail bundle, and then use dental scissors to trim the uneven coat on the tail. The tail is trimmed into a shape with long hair at the base of the tail and short hair at the tip.
(9) Trim the head
① First use straight scissors to trim the rudimentary shape of the head, and then use dental scissors to trim it.
② Comb the hair on the top of the head completely with a comb, use dental scissors to cut it at a 45° angle, and trim it horizontally with scissors from one corner of the eye to the other. Trim it so that the hair is short near the forehead and long near the top of the head. shape.
③ Comb the hair around the snout into a "chrysanthemum" shape, use dental scissors from one cheek across the bridge of the nose to the other cheek, and trim it into an inverted "U" shape (see picture).
④Pull the ears up toward the top of the head, and use dental scissors to trim the hair on both sides of the cheeks along an arc toward the back.
⑤ Lift the dog's head upward, use the tooth scissors with the tip of the knife downward, and trim along the arc of the lower jaw into an arc with short hair at the lower jaw, short hair at the end of the jaw, and long hair in the middle (see picture).
⑥ Use a comb to lift up all the hair on the head, and use dental scissors to round it in an arc. The hair on the occipital bone is also trimmed into an arc (see picture).
(10) Use a comb to comb the ear fur down, and use dental scissors to trim the ear fringe into an arc or straight line. The length of the ear fur can be consistent with the length of the chin hair, or it can be appropriate. Leave it long.
