The head is large and well proportioned. The length from occiput to muzzle is greater than the width of the Basset Hound at the forehead. The head is of moderate width in overall appearance. The length from the nose to the depression is approximately the length from the depression to the occipital bone. The sides are flat and the cheeks have no ridges.
