Sledding is an ideal means of transportation on ice and snow, and riding a dog sled is also a fun sport. Most sleds are made of wood and can carry people and pull cargo. There are no uniform regulations on length and width, they can be large or small. Usually there are two skid plates made of birch wood under the sled, with both ends slightly tilted so that they have less contact with the ground. The less contact they have, the less effort they have. When making, use two slightly wider hardwoods to make beams, and then wedge four slightly shorter hardwoods into the beams. Because the friction coefficient of the skateboard is small on snow and solid ice, the dog sled can run very fast.

Steps to train a dog to “pulle a sled”:

Step 1: Dog sledding is a very hard job. Each dog has a leather yoke made of dried moss around its neck, connected by two straps. Wearing a belt around the chest and back. A long rope was fastened to this, and the end of the long rope was tied to a ring in front of the sled. Dogs used for pulling sleds must be cold-resistant, have extraordinary judgment, be good at running, and have long-lasting endurance. Dogs with these natures include Arctic dogs, Huskies, etc.

Second step: Sled dogs need special training in order to obey commands and adapt to traveling on the sled. Usually the dog team is arranged in two forms, namely column shape and fan shape. The former is suitable for light sleds, pulled by 8-10 dogs; the latter is suitable for large sleds, pulled by 12-14 dogs. Regardless of the arrangement, they must be arranged from front to back according to the dominant sequence within the dog group. The leading dog at the front should be the king of the dog group or a hand-selected dog that is strong, smart, and obedient to commands. The lead dog should accurately understand the owner's intentions and lead the dog team in the right direction according to the command.

The third step:The column formation is generally arranged in two columns, with two dogs in each group, advancing head-on. A certain distance should be maintained between each group so as not to hinder movement. The dogs behind will follow the footsteps of the dogs in front. The two dogs in each group are tied to the left and right sides of a long rope. The rope is connected to the front of the sled. When the dogs pull the sled, all the dogs follow the footsteps of the previous dog at fixed positions on both sides of the long rope.
