Symptoms of gastrointestinal parasite infection in dogs

Owners can observe that the dog may become greedy, but its weight will significantly decrease. The dog will have blood in the stool or mucus-like diarrhea, sometimes intermittently. Symptoms include sexual abdominal pain and the discovery of squirming adult worms in the feces.

Causes of gastrointestinal parasite infection in dogs

Some sources of infection come from infection in the mother, and some are caused by ingestion of eggs in the environment, which hatch into adult worms in the dog's body. When dogs are walking and playing outside, they often have the opportunity to accidentally ingest insect eggs exposed to the environment, and these eggs will become parasitic in the dog's intestines and stomach. Common ones include roundworms, whipworms, hookworms, coccidia, tapeworms and pyriform flagellates.

Treatment methods for dogs with gastrointestinal parasite infection

1. Bring the dog’s fresh feces to the hospital and ask a doctor to examine it. After the disease is determined, it can be cured by taking appropriate anti-parasitic medicine. After taking the medicine, there are generally good results.
2. Pay attention to the cleanliness of the dog’s living environment. When taking the dog for a walk outdoors, prevent it from eating randomly.
