Pugs are afraid of heat

Pugs are a type of dog originating from Tibet, my country. Although the pug's hair is relatively short compared to other long-haired dogs, it is recommended not to take the pug for long walks in summer. The pug is a dog that is relatively cold-tolerant, not a heat-resistant dog. You should know that dogs do not have sweat glands and cannot mediate cooling through sweating through their pores. The only way to cool down is through the tongue and the flesh of the paws. Because dogs with short noses dissipate heat more slowly, Pug dogs with short noses are very afraid of heat in summer. Therefore, dogs like to crawl on the ground in summer and let their belly contact the ground to cool down.

Pugs cool down and relieve heat

If the owner is worried about the Pug suffering from heat stroke in summer, when summer comes, you can choose to cut the Pug’s hair, turn on the air conditioner for the Pug, and sprinkle water on the ground. Use other methods to help the Pug cool down, so that the Pug is not so afraid of heat. In addition, try not to take the Pug out when the temperature is too high and at noon, so as to prevent the Pug from being unable to withstand the hot temperature and causing heat stroke.

If a Pug suffers from heat stroke in the hot summer, we must first loosen the leash on the dog and untie all the restraints of the Pug. For example, the clothes, decorations and backpacks on the pug. Then move the Pug to a ventilated and cool open space, rinse its head or body with appropriate water, or half-immerse the Pug in the water. Through your own heat dissipation, drinking water and soaking half of your body in water, you can lower your body temperature.
