Generally, the pregnancy period of dogs is 58 to 65 days (average 63 days). When the pregnancy of a Labrador female dog approaches 60 days, the signs of childbirth will gradually appear:
a. The female Labrador retriever began to become restless, constantly scratching the floor and mats with her front feet, making nest-building movements.
b. Most Labrador bitches stop eating within 24 hours before giving birth, or only choose a small amount of their favorite food to eat; some will vomit slightly before giving birth.
c. Generally, starting from the day of delivery, the body temperature of the Labrador bitch will gradually decrease, and the temperature will decrease closer to delivery. It may drop to about 36°C 24 hours before delivery. When these signs appear, you must be ready to deliver the baby. The female Labrador retriever who is about to give birth will keep turning back and forth, her back will be arched, her abdomen will become larger, and she will begin to have exertion and labor pains. Dogs usually start giving birth in the middle of the night or early in the morning.
