How can you tell that a golden retriever has dystocia? If the baby has not been born 30 minutes after the start of labor, it can basically be judged that it is dystocia; the dog mother appears very weak when she takes the initiative to give birth, and the rest time exceeds 4-6 hours; the dog mother is in obvious pain, Dark, pus-like or bloody discharge from the vagina.

1. The strength and duration of the dog mother’s uterine contractions are normal, but 30 minutes after the start of delivery, it may be dystocia before the baby is born.

2. The amniotic fluid comes out and no puppy is born within two hours; the number of contractions is small and the duration is short. If the baby does not come out within three hours from the start of labor, it is a dystocia.

3. The mother dog appears very weak and has no strength to give birth; during active delivery, the rest period exceeds 4 to 6 hours.

4. The mother dog has obvious pain (moans, licks and gnaws the vagina); there is dark, pus-like or blood-like secretion discharged from the vagina.

5. After giving birth to one or several fetuses, if the delivery does not continue for more than 4 hours and there are still fetuses in the birth canal, it is dystocia. This dystocia is mostly caused by weak uterine contractions.

6. The gestation period of female dogs that give birth to babies for the first time exceeds 1 to 2 days, and the gestation period of female dogs that have given birth exceeds 1 to 2 weeks. If the fetus is still alive, dystocia will often occur during delivery.

7. Judging from the number of days the dog has been pregnant, if it is more than 72 days from the day of breeding, the dog has the possibility of dystocia.
