It is possible to use povidone iodine to treat decay on turtles. However, povidone iodine is corrosive to a certain extent and can only be applied to the rotten parts. You can keep the turtle in a dry environment for a while, and then put it back into the water after the drug is absorbed. Do not soak the turtle in iodine solution. Moreover, iodophor is highly irritating to the eyes of turtles. In addition, iodophor only has a disinfecting effect and does not have a good therapeutic effect on turtle decay. Breeders can treat it with erythromycin ointment or oxytetracycline and other drugs.

Causes of rotten skin on turtles:

1. Poor water quality. Dirty water can easily lead to skin rot. What needs to be emphasized is that the water is dirty, not that turbid water means dirty water. In fact, most turtles do not have high requirements for water quality.

2. Large temperature difference. Sudden changes in temperature will not only cause colds and pneumonia in turtles, but also cause rotten skin.

3. Stress response. Because they are not familiar with the new environment, they run around in the tank and feel insecure, which can easily cause the turtle to have a stress reaction.

4. Innate factors. Different types of turtles also have differences in rotten skin. In the same living environment, some turtles can live very well, while others have difficulty adapting, with rotten skin turning over and over.
