The more common clinical causes of colds include canine distemper virus, parainfluenza virus, bacterial infection, mycoplasma and chlamydial infection. Exposure to pathogens, such as playing and living with sick dogs, or living in a dirty and messy environment, will increase the probability of getting sick. Precautions for dogs with colds:
