Prevent umbilical cord from spraining puppies

Be careful not to drag the umbilical cord too long to prevent the puppy from being torn. It will fall off automatically after a certain period of time. During this period, pay attention to the changes in the puppies' umbilical cords, and do not let the puppies suck each other to prevent infection and inflammation. If the puppy's umbilical vessel is incompetent and blood flows out, or the urethra is incomplete and urine flows out, it should be ligated.

Pay attention to the temperature of the living environment

Since the body temperature of baby dogs is low, they have poor body temperature regulation ability, and the environmental temperature has a great impact on the life activities of puppies. Especially in the cold season, the delivery room should have heating facilities to keep the room dry. Generally speaking, the appropriate living environment temperature for puppies under 1 week old is 30~32℃; the suitable environmental temperature for puppies 2~3 weeks old is around 27℃; the environmental temperature for puppies after 4 weeks of age is around 27℃. 23℃ is suitable.

The dog box should be large and comfortable

The dog box should be large and comfortable, so that the mother dog can turn around and lie down at will without squeezing the puppies. The owner should be on duty day and night and strengthen supervision, especially for bitches with weak maternal instincts, first-born and neurotic bitches. Keep the delivery room and surrounding environment quiet, and refuse to let strangers watch to prevent the mother dog from trampling on the puppies when she is stimulated, rushes, and bites. In the first 7 days after the puppies are born, it is best to use a whelping box to isolate the puppies from the mother dog and let them nurse regularly to prevent the mother dog from stepping on the puppies.
