Preparations and necessary items before raising a dog

1. First, disinfect the disinfectant used in the home. If there is rat poison or cockroach poison in the home, it must be cleaned up. Check to see if there are any items that are dangerous for the dog to eat.

2. Prepare a mat or kennel. A cage is also possible, but you must choose one with a relatively fine grid at the bottom. The cage is for temporary use during transportation. It is fine for taking the dog out, but it cannot be kept inside normally. The bottom grid is too large and the paws will be damaged. Clothes or mats for dogs should not smell like mothballs, as they can be poisonous.

3. Prepare dog food and nutritional supplements that your dog is accustomed to eating.

4. Prepare the water dispenser. If not, you can use a bowl instead. It is recommended that you use a clean water dispenser as the bowl may be stepped on by your dog. It is best to buy a small mouth for the water dispenser (I am using it now, but the water from the large mouth is too large, and it is easy to overflow and wet the chin), and then change it when it is 4 or 5 months old.

5. Prepare a thermometer (requires anal thermometer: anal insert, available in human pharmacies). If the puppy has a headache and brain fever, temperature is a very important indicator. The normal body temperature of a dog is 38-38.5. It is best to apply lubricating oil before inserting the thermometer, or moisten it with alcohol or warm water.

6. Prepare dog-specific towels and washbasins.

7. Prepare dog toenail clippers, buy a medium or large size. Toenails need to be trimmed every week to half a month. You can cut any transparent area, but the red areas inside have blood vessels, just don’t cut them. Don't let your toenails grow so long that they curl up. Don't be nervous in case of bleeding after cutting. Just apply chlortetracycline eye ointment or iodine.
