Pud in Golden Retriever’s ears is otitis media

Pus in Golden Retriever’s ears is generally an infection of otitis media. It is usually complicated by local swelling, loss of hair at the base of the ears or dermatitis, reduced hearing in sick dogs and other symptoms. Timely treatment measures are required. Otherwise it may affect the dog's hearing.

Treatment measures for golden retriever ear pus

1) Before treatment of dogs with acute otitis externa infection, the external auditory canal should be blocked with absorbent cotton balls, then the surrounding coat should be cut off, and treated with normal saline and 0. Rinse the external auditory canal with 1% hydrochloric acid or 3% hydrogen peroxide solution.

Apply 2 to 3 times a day.
4) For suppurative otitis externa, apply antibiotic ointment to the ear canal after cleaning according to the above method.
5) In severe cases, rinse 1 to 2 times a day and then apply ointment. Dogs with obvious systemic symptoms can be treated with systemic antibiotics. External ear drainage should be performed on sick dogs with deformed ear shells or tumors.

Prevention and care methods for golden retriever ear pus

1. When bathing, stuff cotton balls into the pet dog’s ears to prevent water from splashing in.
2. Try to keep the sick side of the puppy facing down to facilitate the drainage of fluid.
3. Use hot towel or water bag to apply hot compress, which has certain curative effects.
4. For puppies, avoid lying on their backs to nurse. Since their physiological structure is not yet sound, choking on milk can easily cause otitis media.
5. Get more rest during illness, avoid strenuous exercise, and ensure adequate sleep.
6. After taking a bath, use a hair dryer to dry the ear canal and surrounding hair.
7. If the dog is agitated due to pain, you can give it some painkillers (must be prescribed by a doctor).
8. Frequently use cotton swabs to clean the earwax (earwax) to ensure it is clean and pollution-free.
9. In very severe cases of otitis media, antibiotic injections may be considered.
10. Insist on dripping a few drops of a solution composed of medical alcohol, white vinegar and mineral oil every day to ensure that the ear canal is dry.
11. Supplement your dog with more vitamins and manganese-rich dog food and formula. Nutrition needs to be strengthened at this stage.
