Usually Pomeranian dogs will have their first estrus when they grow to 6-8 months old. Healthy adult Pomeranian dogs will have estrus twice a year. Most of them will have estrus once from March to May in spring and once from September to November in autumn. Can come into heat again. If pregnancy is not successful in one estrus period, then you will have to wait for the next estrus before mating.
The main symptoms of a Pomeranian in heat are irritability, swelling of the vulva, red mucus flowing out, like to bark, like to be close to male dogs, etc. Each Pomeranian's estrus lasts about 6 to 14 days, and a few Pomeranians have a long estrus period, which can last up to 21 days.
When the Pomeranian is in heat, the owner should pay attention to supplementing the Pomeranian with nutrition. Dogs in estrus need to supplement their nutrition. Pomeranians can be fed vegetables and meat to supplement their nutrition, such as lettuce, tomatoes, cabbage, carrots, chicken and other foods. Also, if you don’t pay attention to cleaning when your Pomeranian is in estrus, it is easy for your Pomeranian to become infected with bacteria and get sick. Therefore, you should clean your dog’s vulva with warm water every day, keep it clean and dry, and then put your dog in sanitary trousers to prevent bacterial infection.
