Why don’t Samoyeds take baths? There are several main reasons why Samoyeds don’t like bathing: First, they don’t like to be washed by water by nature, and they think bathing is dangerous; second, they may have had unpleasant bathing experiences, which caused psychological shadow; third, I don’t like the smell of shower gel because dogs generally prefer their own body odor.

1. I don’t like bathing by nature

Perhaps by nature, dogs feel like they are drowning when taking a bath. Out of their desire to survive, dogs refuse to take a bath. And generally when they feel itchy and uncomfortable, they just need to roll around in the lawn a few times.

2. Have psychological shadow about bathing

For some dogs, bathing may have an unpleasant memory. Maybe the first time you bathe the dog, the action is rough, or the dog is scalded by the water temperature, or the water splashes in the dog's eyes and makes it feel uncomfortable, or the dog is scolded while bathing, etc. These bad first bathing experiences will cause the dog to build up unpleasant memories, so every time it hears about taking a bath, the dog will go crazy and resist.

3. I don’t like the smell of detergent

And when the dog takes a bath, the smell of the detergent will make it smell bad. Compared with those, it prefers its own body odor and familiar taste, and other smells are odors to it.

To make Samoyed less resistant to bathing, the owner must treat the dog patiently. At the beginning, the bathing time should not be too long. You can use a sponge to wipe the body first, and then wash the dog's whole body with water of moderate temperature to shorten the bathing time. Slowly establish a comfortable bathing experience, and use a gentle tone of voice, supplemented by snacks, toys and other encouragement to seduce the dog into submission, so that the dog can slowly feel that bathing is a happy thing.
