1. Feeding after weaning
The weaning period of puppies is generally based on 2 months after birth, but this does not mean that they must nurse for two full months. In fact, few female dogs breastfeed for two full months. Usually around the 30th to 40th day after giving birth, the female dog will gradually become tired of breastfeeding. At this time, the secretion of breast milk will decrease rapidly, especially when the number of puppies in one litter is large, the boredom of the female dog will be aggravated. The canned dog food and wet dog food currently on the market are average in nutrition and can be fed two or three times a day, not more than one spoon each time. If you only have dry dog food, you should soak it in warm water first, and then wait until the dry food is softened before giving it to the puppy. The mother dog should also be present when the puppies are being introduced to solid food.
2. Other suitable foods
Minced meat and fish (with less fat) are indispensable foods for puppies, followed by milk, eggs, vegetables, noodles, rice, bone meal, various vitamins, liver oil, beef and pig offal, chicken and duck heads, etc. , grated carrots have high nutritional value and are cheap. Mixed with honey, it is an excellent puppy dog food. In order to keep the puppy's teeth strong and chew normally, it should be allowed to chew on cow bones frequently. Additionally, fresh, clean drinking water is an absolute must.
3. Tableware and feeding
Tableware should be made of heat-resistant, wear-resistant, sterilized metal products. It is best for puppies to use tableware that is heavier, has a wide bottom, and is not easy to tip over. Each puppy should be equipped with a separate food utensil and fixed at the same height as the puppy's neck so that the puppy can eat without too much effort. If the food utensils are placed on the ground or in a low place, the puppy will have to lower its head when eating and shift its center of gravity forward to the forelimbs. This unnatural posture can easily cause the forelimbs to bend.
