What should I do if my Welsh Terrier has a fever? Because many diseases are accompanied by fever symptoms, such as canine distemper and parvovirus. If the high fever persists, for safety reasons, it is best for the dog owner to take the dog to the hospital for examination first.

1. Symptoms of dog fever:

High body temperature in dogs is definitely the most important symptom of fever. Unlike humans, dogs have a higher body temperature than humans. Generally, the normal body temperature of dogs is between 37.5-39.3 degrees (slightly lower for adult dogs and slightly higher for puppies). If the dog's temperature exceeds 39.5 degrees, it can be considered that the dog has a high fever.

The most obvious symptom of a dog having a fever is that the dog is tired, inactive, lethargic, and lacks energy even when going out to play. Another symptom of dog fever is that the dog will be breathing very quickly. If you can see the belly, you will find that the color of the belly is redder than usual, and the whites of the eyes will also be red.

2. Treatment methods for fever:

If you want to reduce the fever quickly, you can take your dog to the hospital for a routine blood test first. If there is no problem, just give a subcutaneous injection to reduce fever. Take one pill each of Bupleurum + Antongding, repeat it every 6 hours, and the dog's fever will subside soon.

If it is not too severe and there is no pet hospital near the dog owner, nursing treatment can also be used:

1. First, let the dog drink more water to promote more urination and lower body temperature. Antiviral drugs such as isatis root can also be given to dogs, but the dosage should be the same as for children.

2. You can use 75% alcohol or warm water to wipe the limbs, chest, back and neck, etc. You can also use a towel soaked in ice water or cold water to apply cold compress. Generally, it is placed on the side of the neck, groin, armpit, etc., and replaced every 5 minutes.

3. In addition, pay more attention to dietary hygiene. Dog food must be light and greasy food cannot be given to dogs.
