After giving birth to kittens, many cats will experience insufficient milk, which cannot properly supply the kittens’ growth needs. Generally speaking, there are many reasons for insufficient milk supply in female cats. For example: the female cat's poor dietary conditions during pregnancy lead to poor mammary gland development, resulting in insufficient milk. It is also possible that the female cat is affected by genetic or endocrine factors, such as disease, excessive fright, etc., which can easily cause physical discomfort to the female cat, resulting in insufficient milk supply. When the mother cat's milk supply is insufficient, it cannot meet the growth needs of the kittens. At this time, the mother cat should be stimulated to lactate, or the kittens should be fed kitten milk powder in time to supplement the nutrients needed by their bodies.
1. Hormone treatment to induce lactation, intramuscularly inject 3 to 4 units of oxytocin into the female cat once a day for 3-4 consecutive days to help the female cat produce milk.
2. Follow the doctor’s arrangements and use traditional Chinese medicine to induce lactation. Boil 20 grams of Wangbuliuxing, 10 grams of Tongcao, and 1 pair of pig's trotters. Add 50 grams of brown sugar and 25 ml of rice wine. After stewing, give it to the cat once a day for 3-5 days.
3. Feed the female cat milk, goat milk or eggs with thin feed, add water or soy milk, and make a paste into a thin feed.
4. When you find that the female cat’s milk is insufficient, you cannot blindly think that milk powder can replace breast milk. First, carry out lactation work for the female cat, and then prepare kitten milk powder for emergency use.
