Cat litter is generally replaced once a week or so, but it still depends on the material and quality of the cat litter. Clumping cat litter needs to be replaced more frequently, while absorbent cat litter can be used longer. High-quality crystal cat litter is generally replaced once a month. However, the quality of the products varies, and some low-quality cat litter does not achieve good results. Owners should always observe the changes in the cat litter and replace it in time if it smells smelly or becomes gray.
The consequences of not changing cat litter:
1. Bacteria will breed. If the excrement in the cat litter is not cleaned for a long time, a large number of bacteria and parasites may breed, which is very unhygienic.
2. It will cause cats to get sick. Cats excreting in unhygienic litter boxes can easily become infected with bacteria and parasites, causing urinary tract diseases.
3. It will cause cats to urinate randomly. Cats are very clean animals. They are mysophobic and do not like to urinate in dirty litter boxes, so they will look for other suitable places to urinate.
