These three types of cats are very similar, they are all long-haired cats. What's the difference?

1. Among the three types of cats, the Maine Coon cat is the largest, or the longest.

Male Maine Coon cats generally weigh more than 7KG, usually 7KG-15KG, while Norwegian Forest Cats are 6-11KG, and Siberian cats are generally around 4.5-9KG, so in terms of body size, Maine Coon>Norwegian Forest Cat> Siberian cat.

2. Among the three types of cats, the Maine Coon has the shortest legs and is close to the ground. The Norwegian’s hind legs are obviously much longer than the front legs, and the Siberian is medium.

3. Among the three types of cats, the Siberian’s hair is obviously thinner and denser. The Maine Coon and Norwegian’s hair are relatively similar. Their hair has a fluffy feel and is relatively light.

4. The length of the Maine Coon cat’s tail and ears are particularly large, even quite abrupt compared to the body. The ones with "lynx-like slender tufts of hair" are Maine Coons and Norwegian Forest cats, but generally speaking, Maine Coons are more obvious.

5. The eyes of the three are also different. Maine Coons have oval eyes, while Norwegians and Siberians have almond eyes (that is, the eyes are flatter and the lower lash line is raised more sharply)

6. Differences in face shape: Among the three cat species, the Maine Coon has the longest face (because of its long ears). When viewed from the side, its chin is basically square and its forehead is a raised obtuse angle. The same is true for Siberian cats. There is no turning point from forehead to nose of Norwegian cats, it is just a smooth curve.

So, if you want to distinguish these three types of cats, you can use the following simple method:

A. Maine Coon cats can be easily distinguished from other two cats by the length and stand of their ears. For example, in the picture below, such abrupt ears are obviously Maine Coon, and the fairy-like beard is also from Maine Coon. Characteristics, you will think the other two types of cats are much more normal and not that long.

B. Next, we can distinguish Siberian forest cats and Norwegian forest cats based on the shape of their heads. The one with a more triangular face is the Norwegian forest cat. When you see it, you will think, "Why is it so round?" It must be Siberian.

This is a typical Norwegian forest.
