How to judge whether stray cats have feline distemper virus:
1. Observe whether the cat has symptoms of feline distemper. The early symptoms of cat plague: depression, anorexia, vomiting that is food at first, then yellow-green gastric juice, fever may reach about 40°C, diarrhea symptoms, and the excrement has a rancid smell. Later symptoms of cat plague: the feces contains blood in the later stage, is brown in color, is dehydrated, and the cat’s eyeballs are sunken.
2. Cat plague test paper. Feline distemper test paper is a test paper used to detect whether cats are suffering from feline distemper. If the initial test is negative, a retest is required. If the retest is also negative, the possibility of illness can basically be ruled out. If the test is positive, it can basically be judged that the cat is suffering from feline distemper. At this time, the cat needs to be sent to the hospital for treatment immediately.
3. Routine blood tests. Take the cat to the pet hospital for routine blood testing to judge the changes in blood components. Usually, the blood test results of cats suffering from feline distemper will show a decrease in the number of white blood cells, neutrophils, and lymphocytes. Decreased platelets, decreased hematocrit, etc. These indicators may not be obvious at first, but will gradually appear as the disease progresses, especially the decrease in white blood cell count.
