What to do if a cat is poisoned after eating expired meat:

1. If the cat eats very little, the poisoning symptoms will usually be relieved after vomiting. So when a cat first starts to vomit, don’t rush to stop it. In my experience, a cat that eats less will vomit about twice, and a cat that eats a lot will vomit about three to four times. Pay attention to the cat’s condition, stay calm, and avoid vomiting. Please take photos and keep them to help the doctor diagnose and then clean them up. Don't rush to give the cat water. Vomiting will cause gastric cramps, which will make the cat uncomfortable, but it will recover after a while.

2. If a cat eats a lot, it will usually start to have diarrhea after vomiting three or four times, or vomiting and diarrhea will occur alternately. In the early stage of diarrhea, do not rush to stop diarrhea. Wait until the contents of the cat’s intestines are basically gone. Consider taking antidiarrheal medication after you have emptied your bowels. Record the number of excretions and take photos of poop to help the doctor diagnose, and then clean up in time after each vomiting and excretion to ensure that the litter box is clean the next time the cat has diarrhea, otherwise it may poop outside.

3. If the situation is serious, take the cat to the hospital for treatment. Usually after vomiting and diarrhea, the cat will be very weak, which can also cause dehydration and acid-base balance imbalance. After the cat regains its composure, give it timely rehydration. If it cannot drink water by itself, please feed it a little. Drink, please take it to the hospital for infusion.

4. Bacterial infection may remain in the body, and then the drug will take effect. If the cat just vomits and is fine, then just observe it. If the cat has vomiting plus diarrhea and may have a fever, then go to the pet hospital. The doctor usually does some examinations, refills the cat with fluids, and prescribes antipyretic or anti-inflammatory drugs. Take it for cats.
