If you are scratched by a domestic cat and there is no bleeding, then you will be fine without an injection. If you are scratched by a stray or feral cat, and there is bleeding, you may be infected with rabies virus without an injection. Therefore It's best to get vaccinated. After being scratched by a cat, immediately rinse the wound with running water or soapy water for about fifteen minutes, and then apply iodine for disinfection.

There are germs on cats. If you are scratched by a cat and develop fever, swelling, dizziness, etc., you need to seek medical attention immediately.
