Measure the rectal temperature

1. Swing the rectal thermometer up and down to return the mercury meter to zero.

3. When taking the rectal temperature, the pet owner needs to find an assistant to help. The assistant needs to fix the dog's head and forelimbs and provide comfort, while the measurer gently lifts the dog's tail.

4. Gently insert the rectal thermometer into the dog's body 1~2cm.

5. Determine the residence time according to the measurement time required in the rectal thermometer instruction manual. Generally speaking, a rectal thermometer should be placed in the anus for 10 to 30 seconds.

6. Pull out the rectal thermometer and read the temperature.

7. After disinfecting the rectal thermometer, just put it in the box and store it.

Measure the temperature at the base of the hind legs

1. Larger dogs: Let the dog adopt a posture that it feels most comfortable, and then test the watch on the dog It is best to maintain this posture and not move randomly during the process. First, raise the dog's legs and clamp the thermometer on it, then press it down so that the hind legs and belly clamp the thermometer tightly for ten minutes (the time is longer than the rectal measurement, so that the temperature can be more accurate).

2. Small dogs: For dogs that you can hold, this method is best, because this method can best ensure the position of the thermometer clip. Hold the dog with one hand, hold the watch in the other hand and hold the hind leg holding the watch. This position is actually not uncomfortable for dogs, so it is not difficult to maintain it for ten minutes.

Rectal measurement: If each dog has its own rectal thermometer, use clean water after each measurement. Just clean it, there is no need to disinfect it every time. If you need to disinfect, just use alcohol wipes to clean it. There is also a simpler way, which is to buy a box of disposable rectal thermometer covers and just throw them away after each use, which is convenient and safe.
