First of all, when we prepare a special basin for soaking dog food, we put dog food into the basin. The puppies should not feed too much dog food at a time. Try to eat less and more meals so that the puppies can digest it.

Secondly, we prepare warm water, the water temperature is about 40-70 degrees, but the water must be warm water that has been boiled in advance and then cooled down (to avoid the loss of nutrients in the dog food caused by boiling water, and hot water can easily burn the dog);

The amount of water should be enough for the dog food to absorb, so that the soaked dog food can just absorb all the water, so that there is no need to pour out the excess water and lose part of the nutrition;

Soak until the dog food is released (softened); the solubility of each type of dog food is different, so the soaking time will vary. Usually warm water at around 60 degrees is enough for 20 minutes. At this time, the water temperature is about 30 degrees, which is just right for trial feeding.

The temperature of dog food is very critical. Once it is not controlled well, a high temperature will cause burns in the pet's mouth. A temperature that is too low will cause gastrointestinal diseases in pets, such as loose stools and diarrhea. According to our long-term observation and statistics, dog food should not be fed at too high a temperature. Generally, the best food temperature is 1 to 2°C higher than body temperature. It should be controlled at around 40°C. No matter how high the temperature is, pets will refuse to eat. Severe cases can cause oral burns in pets. Similarly, if the temperature is too low, especially in the summer, some pet owners store dog food in the refrigerator to prevent it from deteriorating, and then feed it directly to their pets after taking it out, which can easily cause diarrhea in their pets. Therefore, it is recommended that pet owners who need to soak dog food before feeding it must choose warm water around 40°C instead of cold water.

Generally, dogs can eat hard dog food when their teeth have basically grown. Small dogs such as Chihuahuas do not need to soak food for about 2 months; medium and large dogs can usually eat it slowly after 3 months. There is no need to soak it so softly, it will completely transition to hard dog food after 4 months; in addition, it is not ruled out that due to differences in dogs, some dogs will stop eating soft dog food for a longer time.

It is most suitable to feed 3 to 4 times a day, about 12 to 15 pieces at a time. If it is a large dog, just increase the amount. After the dog grows to 3 to 4 months, when the dog’s teeth begin to grow and the digestive system is relatively complete, we will not need to prepare dog food.
